Help for Haiti

G.Ai.N (www.gain-germany.org), the humanitarian arm of Agape and Campus Crusade for Christ with world headquarters based in Germany, is coordinating efforts to give immediate relief and long-term aid to the people of this country. Since Tuesday they have been living in the midst of disaster after an earthquake of 7.0 magnitude left the region paralized and the damage to its capital, Port-au-Prince still has not been estimated.

Esperandieu Pierre, National Director of Agape in Haiti is working directly with GAiN. Esperandieu was actually outside of Haiti when the earthquake hit. GAiN is working very closely with Esperandieu and a network of churches and volunteers to distribute aid sent by ship and other materials that they can find locally.

Eight containers, each one filled with food, medical supplies, water purification tablets and other emergency provisions are ready to be given out immediately. Another six containers will be prepared and sent as soon as possible. Members of the GAiN team are on their way to Haiti as we publish this post to help with the initial damage, to start to organize the emergency aid distribution and to help in the effort to train trauma counselors.

While the team in Haiti starts to mobilize, urgent economic contributions are necessary to respond to the needs of the Haitians. If food, water and medical supplies to treat injuries don´t arrive immediately, many will die.

If you would like to help and are in a position to do so, please make a donation by making a deposit directly to the two bank accounts (listed below) that Agape Spain has made available to forward GAiN donations. (It´s important to put "Haiti" on the memo line.)
