"Tinc Gana" in Barcelona

Just as the cold and bad weather showed up on Sunday, the volunteers of "Tinc Gana" ("I´m Hungry") (an activity that ministers to the homeless) also showed up, reaching out to the homeless in the center of Barcelona. They had blankets, coats and hot food to give out. There were able to reach 3 different neighborhoods in the center of town: the Macba, Plaça Catalunya and Plaça Reial/the Rambles.

One of the most interesting things about "Tince Gana" is that ones being ministered to and the ones ministering already know each other and share a mutual respect between them. As a result, all feel the freedom to share experiences about their own lives. With this mutual trust, the young volunteers are able to help a variety of people.

One example is the story of Mami, a 45-50-year-old woman who has the look of a 70-year-old. She lives near the Macba and has shared several times with the young people that these windy cold days were taking their toll on her, especially since there are no shelters where she can stay. So, one can imagine the look on her face when she saw them coming with blankets and heavy coat for her!

We give thanks for these volunteers and we encourage all who are interested to participate.
